Well, I guess I should have gotten fuel sooner. I could have topped off when I left disney for $4.58 a gallon but decided to wait. I gambled poorly. Just filled up motorhome for $228 at $4.89 a gallon. Gas was $4.74 yesterday. What a bargain......

Hello FOOFs

Been really quiet around here. I hope everyone is doing well and their fur babies are doing well. I topped off the motorhome on Friday for $185. That was cheaper than the over $200 fill up the previous gas station visit. I did a ham radio event from the motorhome this weekend so I didn't drive far. We are supposed to go to LazyDays resort in Tampa for the 4th of July weekend but I'm not sure if that will happen now. My wife has been really sick for a week and is not getting any better. She doesn't have COVID (she got tested) but has a bad ear ache and is coughing a lot. She pretty much stayed in bed all weekend. She did get a prescription for an inhaler and something for her cough but the Dr says the Flu has been going around. I guess if I was going to catch what she has, I would have gotten in by now. Hopefully she will get better before Friday as I know she really wants to go this weekend.

My male Papillon hung out with me in the motorhome while I was doing my ham radio event. He kept me company and got to meet a new friend. My friend and his family came to the event and his daughter was fond of Monty. Here are a couple of pictures of Monty and Katie

Good Morning

I am curious if anyone is going anywhere for the 4th of July this year? My wife and I had planned to go to LazyDays resort on Friday afternoon and stay until Tuesday morning as I took off July 5th from work. However, she is really sick with the Flu and is getting no better so each day it's looking more and more like we will be staying home for the 4th. I know many people don't like taking trips during holiday weekends but we usually take advantage of the extra day off since we still work full time. LazyDays usually has a lot of activities going on for the 4th. They have a DJ pool party and BBQ on Saturday. Then on Sunday, they have a jump house and a water slide for the kids. And then on Sunday, they have a dress up your golf cart parade in the afternoon where everyone puts their American flags and decorations on their golf carts and parade around the park. Then they do a good fireworks show when it gets dark. I know a lot of doggies don't like fireworks but mine don't seem to mind. Plus, they are getting old and hard of hearing like I am.

Anyway, I hope people are still reading this form. Before Richard died, he asked me to keep this thread going so I'm going to do that as long as possible.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Kudos for keeping the thread going, Burch. It is much appreciated. I visit every day but don't often have much to report!

We are not going anywhere over the 4th as we have a friend visiting from Colorado.

We do have a trip planned for late July into August. We are doing a reverse snowbird trip. We have close friends in Ontario who come down here every winter so we have decided to go up and visit them!

We are really looking forward to it despite the high price of gas. It was always going to be an expensive trip so now it will be a bit more. [emoticon]

Sorry your wife is sick; hope she heals quickly.

We're going about 40 miles to the Hollywood Casino campground, Joliet, IL. We're trying to escape the fireworks that are so prevalent in Indiana. We'll still get a show at the casino, but nowhere near the the issues we get at home with every person setting them off at all hours.

I left Florida in May and have been mostly in Indiana, doing graduations and visiting friends and family. That all came to a halt the other day. A lot of viri have been going around, including my sister and BIL. They were sick for 2-3 weeks, but repeated testing showed them negative for Covid. I came down with it over the weekend, and BOOM. . . I've got covid. So I am quarantining in MinnieMee in my sister's woods. So thankful for my own space. Sister checks on me multiple times a day and brings me a hot meal once a day. Grateful for that. My doctor in Florida would not call in a prescription so I went to urgent care here in Indiana. So glad I did. Turns out I have bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection and a sinus infection on top of Covid. So she gave me a ZPak and an antiviral. Today is my 3rd day on the meds and I feel much better. Slept all night without coughing.

I had to cancel my Shipshewana trip which I look forward to, but I may be able to squeeze in a day next week.

Next on the agenda is to inter Terry's ashes. My columbarium is going to be placed soon and since it is July 16, I should be well healed by then. Plan on heading back to Florida then.

So glad this thread is still going and see a few posting. We went to Shawnee, OK and took 2 horses to sell the end of May. We went to the same sale last year, prices and people purchasing has sure changed in a year. The gas prices have finally hit the horse market. We sold ours pretty good but the gas bill didn't help. My husband wanted a new horse and as a friend told me. "If you haven't found your forever horse at our age, you better start looking". He did finally find something he likes, not exactly what he wanted but I'm hoping he's happy.

It's been too hot to trail ride and we don't have any trips planned till fall.

Martyn if you need a stopping place on the way North, drop me a message may be able to help you out. I have a house & barn next door, sitting empty because I don't want any renters. No RV hook up but peaceful and quiet.

ETA: Scottiemom I sure hope you feel better. My husband came home sick yesterday, I gave him an at home test and he tested positive. We have both been vaxed. I guess it's a good thing I have 2 houses & barns, I will be hiding from him the next few days. It will not be a fun 4th around here.

Loved your pictures of Monty. He surely enjoyed the time with friends.

My Brendon is doing well. He gets groomed tomorrow and that is the first day I can mingle with a mask, provided no fever. I haven't had a fever at all.

The other big event (for me) is that my BIL put some scaffolding up (with my help) so I could slap on the new decal on the nose of MinnieMee and remove and install the one on the back. I had managed to get the front one off of the overhanging bubble, but it wasn't pretty and didn't care to do it that way again.

Those cracked and peeling decals were the only thing that really made MinnieMee show her age. I'm not good at posting pix on here, but I will try.

Very kind, but we have already booked stops for all the way up and back. I like to be prepared! Thanks anyway. [emoticon]

I too have been pretty sick for a week - coughing, sore throat and runny nose. Having had covid once, even with 4 shots, I was worried I had got it again. Fortunately I was negative - just another dang cold or something! Feeling a lot better now.

So sorry you caught COVID. My wife got tested once and it came back negative but I'm convinced that she has it. She got COVID a year and a half ago and has the same symptoms that just keep lingering. Usually when she gets sick, she will feel better after 3-4 days but this has been going on for a week and a half now. She said she is feeling a little better today but I think she is just telling me that because she wants to still go on her trip this weekend. She is way tougher than I am. She went back to work on Monday but she still sounds awful with her cough.

Here are a couple more pictures of Monty. This one was taken at Hickory Point RV park in Tarpon Springs a couple of months ago.

This is a picture of Monty and his sister Lola in the background.

Monty is my buddy. He follows me all over the house and is always at my feet. He looks good for his age. He and Lola will have their 12th birthday next month (July 20th).
