Hi there,

We just started our journey from Jacksonville, FL to Austin,TX and have had to call GoodSam twice so far for roadside assistance for our tires. The first instance was after about 3hours on the road and our tire pressure app was going crazy alerting me to a leak in back left tire and low pressure. We pulled into a rest area and saw a puncture hol in tire called and GoodSam sent someone out to change it for us. Second instance we end up with a nail in our back right tire that was also leaking air but we don't have a spare now due to the previous tire issue. When we talked with goodsamband explained both situations and that we would need a tire the first agent said tire replacement would be covered completely and not to worry. We were called by a dispatch person to verify our location and he quoted a high price I wasn't expecting to hear and said they couldn't send someone without paying. We paid because we are literally stuck and desperate but I'm completely lost and confused at what is going on as when we originally signed up when we got our RV as well as when I've talked on the phone and through chat that tire replacement was 100%covered aside from miscellaneous with the membership we have. Goodsam isn't much help because I get assured then transferred and the second person seems clueless. Has anyone else had this issue happen? Where you able to get reimbursed? When we bought our RV we had to pay extra for the Goodsam membership through the dealership and ended up getting the Dealer Platinum+ if that makes a difference. Any help, suggestions, advice is greatly appreciated!

GS ERS did not pay for my tire when I had to have a new one on my fifth-wheel. I had to pay upfront for a tire and GS supplier delivered the tire along with providing the service of putting it on the fifth-wheel. I did not have their Tire plan/road hazard. Only the ERS. Also, on a motorhome, I had to have a new tire and the same thing happened. I paid up front, GS supplier brought the tire, mounted it on the wheel and installed it on the motorhome. Again, the labor was free, I paid for the tire.

Most roadside assistance won't pay for a new tire (or battery, etc).

They will cover the labor and will change a tire with an existing spare at no cost. But if you need a new tire, you have to pay for the actual tire - they aren't going to give it to you for free.

And some shops will overcharge for that tire because you are stuck and can't shop around for a better deal.

If you're in Florida, best to try Boulevard Tire first. They can dispatch a truck to change your tire. They have multiple locations. Their service guys can change out all the tires on an 18-wheeler. If you need a tire as well, they won't **** you on the cost. Also in Florida, on the intersates call *FHP and they will dispatch a road ranger who can change your tire.

We learned this the hard way.

Road service will generally not cover the tire. They cover the service csll and labor. That said, Boulevard Tire will not work with your road service. They say they have been burned by them too many times, but the cost to swap a tire was $75. That was a few years ago, but I'm sure they are still reasonable. A real "stand up" company. We would have saved $300 and 6 hours if we had called them first.
