One for the handy man or inventor

I have Dodge 3500 I just bought, to put the 5th wheel rails in I had to take out the goose neck hitch. Before everyone goes crazy I took the hitch out of my old truck a PullRite slider. Anyway the problem I have is the 4 inch hole in my bed. Any idears on a cheap but effective fix?

RE: A week of adventure, (the wrong kind)

Ford Quility and consumer satisfaction is No.1. Got a 06 with problems too. Runs out of warrenty in Oct. with only 54000 mls. Ford with their "consumer satisfaction" said buy an extended warrenty.

RE: Air Bags

I installed the ride rites on my 2006 F250 4x4. They were made for the truck. Very easy to install took about two hours but can do it a lot quicker now that I have done it. They may make the same instalation for your truck. I haven't had any problems with mine so far.

RE: 6.4 or 6.7 PSD

I was a Ford Man myself but after spending 40,000 plus for a new 2006 with the 6.0 and problem after problem with the engine. With 54000 mls on it and warrenty about to run out and still having problems. Ford telling me... oh well....buy and extended warrenty. I think I'd have to look elsewhere...Seems Fords commentment to quility and satisfied owners is just a bunch of B.S.
Now thats just my opinion....:M

RE: 6.0 Problems

Wow....three pages of post, best I ever got. Thanks for all the info guys. I call Fords and complained but they told me tough try another dealer and to get extended warrenty. I also emailed them and got a reply that they are looking into it, we'll see how far that goes. I was even looking into getting rid of the truck for a newer one but seems the 6.4 has problems of it's own and as far as the 2011, the prices are way out of my price range. Guess I'm stuck with what I have, extended warrenty and hope for the best for the next two years.

6.0 Problems

I have a 2006 F250 with the 6.0 PSD. My problem is with the turbo and getting a check engine light because of lack of turbo boast. I've brought it back to the dealer around five times. They rebuilt my turbo and did other things but last weekend while towing my trailer the light came on again. The dealer said it was a memory code, something about an old code it was remembering. They said they checked everything out and all was good. The truck only has 54000 mile on it but about to run out of warrenty because of years, it was put in service 10/05. Anybody else out there having this problem with their 6.0 and turbo?

RE: Auto Wax or Boat Wax???

I've always used Nu Finisn polish on my trailers. Works great on both metal and fiberglass. Easy on and off and last for the season.

RE: F350

I was leaning towards a dually with the 6.0 but all I've found is ones with the 4:11 gears.

Been looking at 06-07 F350 do all come with the 4:10 gears or can you get 3:57 in them.

RE: From 5er to trailer questions?

Best thing to do is bring your tape measure with you. I'm new to a 5th wheel after years of bumper pull there is a difference when backing.

RE: Questions for a first time buyer

I have a 2006 F250 FX4 with the 6.0 PSD pulling a 2007 37' Sierra 5er. I found the truck pulls the trailer like a mule. I have installed Firestone air bags to level out the truck not that it sat it down a whole bunch, just wanted to level the truck. Now I haven't pulled in the mountians with this trailer but in the hills I have no problems. From all I've read about the ratings of the truck and the trailer I'm close but not over. Most go by the 75% rule and I'm about 85%-90% but what the hell, I'm still below the max and going to enjoy my rig. Only live once:B

RE: Is '06 the best year for a used Diesel?

I own an '06 F250 with the 6.0 and have no problems. Most problems are from the early years and people chipping and programing them. The problem were streched head bolts and blown head gasgets. If you are looking at a 6.0 you might want to do some research into the truck about chips and programs

Before and sometimes after if it gets dirty. I like it all clean when driving down the road.
