RE: What stops the slide room when retracting?

My bell was pulled into the frame and had to be cut off and a replacement ordered. Not sure why or how this happended, but it was wedged in and would not allow me to use the manual operation to open the slide.

RE: One least favorite thing about camping

Hate check in/out times of campgrounds. We do a lot of local camping and don't arrive often until 8p.m on Friday and must be out by 11:00 on Sunday. I'm back home by 12:30 on Sunday and have to begin work to unload the camper. My weekend is cut down to 1 day and this is not why I got a camper so I could enjoy the weekends and the what the campgrounds have to offer. Missing a good day of fishing,swimming, etc, etc. ugh.

RE: RV Accessories-What have you bought and regretted?

Another vote "NO" for the flat hose. I thought this would help me orginize my basement in the 5er, but it seperated and got small pin holes after the 4th use. Back to the old (hard to roll) water hose. Ugh. Love the leveling blocks and own two sets. DW purchased a complete set of china for the camper and we have used them about 3-4 times, otherwise it paper and plastic and toss for eating on now. I'm sure there are more things out there, that I will just have to have to find out it's junk.

RE: Cherrystone, VA

Don't forget to travel North on 13 to Chincoteague to see the wild ponies. Nice island for a visit, but very crowded this time of the year due to pony penning. Annual swim of the ponies in July.

RE: Williamsburg, Va

Recommend Jimmy's for breakfast just down Rt 60 about 3 miles from campground. Candlelight is another good place for some home cooking. Nice campground, but never stayed as it's to close to home.
Enjoy my town..

RE: Niagara Falls - KOA vs a State or Provincial Park

We just returned from KOA Grand Island and enjoyed the pull-thru sites. CG has all that you would want and close to the falls. We did not have time to use all they offered, but enjoyed the easy location to the falls and other attractions in the area. Friendly folks who offer tours and maps to local shopping and etc. Wood on the pricy side, but otherwise very nice store with goodies.

RE: Cherrystone Campground, Va

I love Cherrystone... Great place. Only dislike is that they do not allow late check-out on Sundays. Being semi-local I like to make the most of my weekend had hate to check-out by 11:00 on Sunday morning. They only offer me the opportunity to park my 5er in a field (unhooked) and enjoy my extended stay. I see no benefit in packing up and moving the trailer to spend the 5-6 extra hours. I understand they are a very busy campground and love the new business, but give a little credit to the returning local business. Again, I love Cherrystone....

RE: Pottery Campgrounds Williamsburg Va.

The Pottery was selling some land off not long ago and I was in great hopes that it was selling the campground. I pass by almost daily and agree that it could be the best campground in Williamsburg and surrounding area. It has the land and could be a 4 star campground with the right owner. Sad thing.
I do have my own dream of owning it one day, but they say if you love to camp, don't purchase a campground. I feel that would be true words.

Another vote for AH campground.. Hear it's the best and only visited because of being local. Grocery store and Wal-mart close to CG. Come play in my town.

We used Salty Dog boarding once while in the area. Great place with wild owner, but she was great. It's located in Kill Devil Hills area.

RE: Slide problems

Last time I brought my slide in on my Crossroads Paradise Pointe my stop can continued into the frame of my trailer. (no unusal noise or actions when this was done) At the point I was attempting to get the slide to go out (next trip), I attempted the manual slide and broke off the turning rod also. Dealership had to cut the stop can from the frame and order new parts. They indicated that they would have to repair the hole in the frame to make smaller so the can would not pull thru again. I have had to replace the motor to get the manual rod use again.

Looking for Dodge 3500 DRW Ground Effects

Hey;
I spotted a nice Dodge 3500 DRW this past weekend with a color matching ground effects installed to include fender covers. (pulled out before I could speak to them) These included steps for cab and bed. I'm interested in adding some to my silver 2009. Anyone with information on cost, installation, or companies who sell these would be appreciated. Additional pictures would be great.

RE: how many of you have replaced

Cost me $600.00 to have them removed. Lucky this was covered under warranty, but was given a quote of $2500.00 to remove and replace them. That is with dealership providing the replacement graphics. I read where many had replaced them and they still started to peal or fade, so I opted not to replace mine. As some have said, you can still see where they were but that is much better than what was on there before.

Slide Stop Problems

Hello fellow campers;
I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with their slide stops? Mine was pulled into the hole in the frame and become lodged in the frame. I did not hear any "snap, crackles, or pops when it was brought in, however, the next time I went to use it, only could get rattle of the motor attempting to take the slide out. Manual process would not work and ended up breaking the manual rod off from the motor.
Dealership indicted they had to cut the bell housing apart to remove it from the frame.
Just wanted to see how uncommon this was, or if I was the only lucky one who this has happened to.

RE: Best Rear Camera

I replaced my DW (map reader) with a GPS, so if I replace her again with a backup camera... Oh my, I might be looking at replacement myself. I can't replace all her jobs, because "if I have to do her job, then I don't need her". It has taken me many years to get her trained to assist me in backing the 5er just where it needs to be, and I don't think a little camera on the back of 5er will be able to replace her (jumping up and down, yelling for me to stop". Good Luck Fellows...

RE: Nag's Head NC

We have stayed that "The Rufuge" and love it... Not fancy, but has a pool and fishing from the trailer is nice. As with all places on the Outer Banks, bring your bug spray but otherwise a nice place. No fires on the ground but you can bring kettles if wanted. Close to beach and other things around area.
